Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt

Description
The Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) is a medium-sized university of applied sciences with 8,100 students and 880 employees working in teaching, research and administration.
THI’s core competences lie in the automotive, aerospace, renewable energies and business management fields. Two THI facilities are actively involved in iEXODDUS:
The THI research and test centre CARISSMA was designed as the leading scientific centre for vehicle safety in Germany. The 123-meter-long building was opened in June 2016. With more than 4,000 square metres of floor space, it houses a total of ten state-of-the-art test facilities.
The AI Mobility Node Ingolstadt AImotion Bavaria is dedicated to the AI-based mobility of the future. The focus is on innovation potential in the particularly relevant areas of autonomous driving, unmanned flying and AI-based automotive production.
Role and Key Contribution to the Project
Prof. Schön’s team is the Task Leader of WP3 Extended Perception and Decision Making. By creating novel datasets and perception and decision systems for work zones, incidents and tunnels, the safety NOA (navigation on autopilot) system for ODD extension will be improved.
Prof. Helmer’s team will contribute to traffic simulation by analysing accident and conflict data in relevant ODDs as part of their participation in iEXODDUS. Based on this analysis, a human behavior model for highway construction sites will be created.
Prof. Huber’s team functions as Task Leader for traffic simulation in WP5 and focuses on machine perception modeling for 2D stochastic traffic simulation. Based on the perception and human behaviour models, an assessment and evaluation of automated driving functions in different construction site setups with stochastic simulation (SUMO) will be performed.
