Ford Otosan

Description

As a leading automotive OEM in Turkey and Romania, Ford Otosan designs and manufactures vehicles (commercial and passenger) with a broad service network in Europe.

Founded in 1959 as “OTOSAN A.Ş.”, Ford Otosan was the first automotive company in Turkey. In 1966, it manufactured the first domestic passenger car “Anadol”, which was designed by Turkish engineers and in 1986 the first diesel engine.

Ford Otosan has the largest R&D center in the Turkish automotive industry with approximately 2000 engineers developing advanced technologies and products for the global market. It is the global design and engineering centre for Ford’s heavy commercial vehicles – trucks and diesel engines. Sancaktepe R&D Center, established in 2014, pioneers the engineering of Ford’s global diesel engine development (serving for Hydrogen-powered ICE today), as well as heavy duty truck development. Ford Otosan’s R&D investments continue in parallel with new vehicle, engine, H2 Fuelcell and future CCAM technology projects.

Role and Key Contribution to the Project

Ford Otosan will provide a vehicle with proprietary driving functions and leverage its expertise in I2V communications and transportation to align the consortium’s solutions with real-world conditions. With a strong background in the transportation field, Ford Otosan will support the adoption of the final technologies and, as an OEM, offer insight into project results and interfaces between vehicles and infrastructure, such as V2X communication and connectivity units. By integrating its resources and expertise, Ford Otosan bridges the gap between innovative CCAM technologies and practical applications, playing a pivotal role in the success of the iEXODDUS project.
