Description
Created in 1990, Canon Research Centre France S.A.S. (Canon CRF) is the Research & Development Centre of the Canon Group in Europe and is part of Canon’s global R&D. Canon CRF is focussing on innovation guided by the market and developing advanced technologies based on its expertise in imaging, communication and artificial intelligence (AI). Thanks to its innovative R&D, Canon CRF supports the Canon group’s business activities, worldwide, targeting current and future Canon products and services.
Canon CRF is a member of AFNOR, ETSI and the Wi-Fi Alliance, where it contributes to the fields Video Coding, Wi-Fi, Video Streaming, File Formats, C-ITS and 5G, and submits proposals to International Standardisation Bodies such as ISO MPEG, IEEE and 3GPP.
Role and Key Contribution to the Project
In iEXODDUS, CANON CRF will contribute to the extended perception and decision-making at the roadside, using highly efficient camera sensors from the Canon group, with advanced sensor data analysis to provide vehicles with necessary information related to objects such as Vulnerable Road Users, free spaces or road structure.
Canon CRF will study the infrastructure-based supervision algorithm that analyses current traffic situations and detects hazard situations. It will be used to send awareness information and warnings to traffic participants. Canon CRF will also study improvements for V2X messages to facilitate sharing perception, warnings and coordinated decisions, whilst taking ODD information and functional safety into account.
